Mama Layla Solar

Assembly Centre - Ngong, Kenya

Realizing the importance of developing local production for employment generation, Mama Layla set up a solar assembly centre at Kibiko, Ngong in Kajiado County where 10 persons from the nearby villages are fully trained and employed to assemble solar LED lighting sytems.

Our employment development strategy in rural areas, includes the creation of employment opportunities for single mothers, physically challenged men and women and the uneducated youth.

By assembling and selling around 20,000 solar LED units per year, a solar assembly workshop not only becomes a successful business model, in the process it also provides direct employment to at least 10 persons from the county and provides indirect livelihood to several others.
