Women Empowerment

SuperMamas

Mama Layla is currently working on a program to empower marginalized women in remote villages with technical skills to assembly the solar units. This project is in partnership with Bridge International Academies. We wish to create employment through supporting small business enterprise for women and youth groups.

The SuperMamas program is a network of over 2,000 women leaders in over 200 communities. These communities are in 40 of the 47 counties of Kenya. SuperMamas influence more than 60,000 women within the age of 23-50. These women and champions and vocal pillars within their communities.

The women are involved in the following projects and businesses.

• Grocery food stuff stores.
• Second hand clothes vendors.
• Salons and barbershops.
• Events managements e.g. (Kibundani).
• Sanitary pads (including reusable).
• Mini-shops and mini-supermarkets.
• Tailors, bookstore sellers & beadwork.

Out of these projects and businesses, the SuperMamas have been able to come together and facilitate table banking. Notably, the most active and vibrant SuperMamas are within these towns: Nairobi, Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kajiado (Kiserian and Rongai).
